StayBent JaeBee

The StayBent JaeBee is the most flexible blade in the StayBent short track range, built for skaters who want maximum feel, freedom of movement and a natural glide. It takes its inspiration from the Maple Gold, and the whole design is about flow and finesse rather than raw stiffness. If you like to read a corner and skate it with touch, the JaeBee is made for you.

Built for maximum flex

The JaeBee uses highly flexible lips, even more flexible than the StayBent QCS. The lips are the parts of the blade that hold the tube to the cups, and more flex there lets the skate move freely with your push. The result is a blade that follows your foot through the stride instead of fighting it, which many technical skaters describe as a more connected, intuitive feel on the ice.

The tapered tube and progressive flex

What sets the JaeBee apart is the tube itself. The top of the tube tapers down from the centre toward each end, which creates a progressive flex pattern along the length of the blade. In plain terms, the tips of the blade have more give than the middle. That gives you a varied, responsive feel depending on how and where you load the blade, so it stays smooth through technical corners and rewards creative race moments with soft, controlled transitions and good grip.

Bimetal or full PM steel

The JaeBee is offered in two steels so you can match the blade to how hard you skate and how often you sharpen.

• Bimetal, 62 HRC. A slightly softer running steel that is easy to sharpen and forgiving day to day.
• Full PM, 64 HRC. A harder powder metallurgy steel that holds an edge longer between sharpenings, which suits skaters who train heavily.

Sizing

The JaeBee comes in eight lengths, from 14.5 up to 18, so you can match the blade to your boot size and racing style. As a general guide, shorter blades feel quicker and more agile, while longer blades track straighter and carry more speed on the straights. The JaeBee suits technical and creative short track skaters who value feel and flow over an ultra stiff platform. Skaters who like to change lines, attack corners with touch and keep the skate moving under them tend to get on well with this blade. If you prefer a firmer, more direct feel, the stiffer blades in the StayBent range may suit you better, and we are happy to talk it through.

Care and sharpening

Frequently asked questions

Is the JaeBee good for beginners?

It is a high level race blade built for feel, so it best suits skaters who already have a settled technique. Newer skaters can absolutely skate it, but many start on a firmer, more forgiving blade first.

What is the difference between bimetal and full PM?

Bimetal at 62 HRC is a little softer and easy to sharpen. Full PM at 64 HRC is harder and holds an edge longer, which helps if you train most days. Both use the same JaeBee flex profile.

How is the JaeBee different from the QCS?

The JaeBee has even more flexible lips than the QCS and a tapered tube for progressive flex, so it feels softer and more forgiving through the corner.

How do I choose my blade length?
